Summary
- Melissa Gilbert, 61, criticizes Megyn Kelly's comments on Jeffrey Epstein
- Gilbert was a child actress on 'Little House on the Prairie'
- Kelly claimed Epstein wasn't a pedophile since he preferred 'barely legal girls'

In November 2025, former 'Little House on the Prairie' actress Melissa Gilbert, now 61 years old, fired back at Megyn Kelly's controversial comments about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. During a recent broadcast of 'The Megyn Kelly Show', the 54-year-old host had claimed that Epstein wasn't technically a pedophile since he preferred 'barely legal girls' rather than 'eight-year-olds'.
Gilbert, who played the role of Laura Ingalls Wilder on the popular NBC series from 1974 to 1983, took to Instagram to express her outrage over Kelly's remarks. Sharing personal photos from her time as a child actress, Gilbert emphasized that she 'was a child' and 'was fifteen' years old, the same age as many of Epstein's victims. She noted that her onscreen love interest, played by actor Dean Butler, was several years her senior, highlighting the troubling power dynamics she faced as a young performer.
Gilbert acknowledged that she was fortunate to have had the support of her adoptive parents and the late Michael Landon, the show's creator, who ensured her safety. However, she recognized that many other young women in the entertainment industry were not as fortunate, and she condemned Kelly's attempt to downplay the severity of Epstein's crimes.
