Summary
- Firehouse still reeling 6 months after Captain Bobby's death
- Buck has "difficulty" with Eddie and Hen's closer partnership
- Buck opens up to baby nephew Bobby about his struggles

In the season 9 premiere of the ABC drama "9-1-1", the entire 118 firehouse is still grappling with the aftermath of fire captain Bobby's death, which occurred 6 months prior. This has created a ripple effect, with Oliver Stark's character Buck feeling particularly unsettled by the changes.
Specifically, Buck is having difficulty with the fact that Eddie (Ryan Guzman) and Hen (Aisha Hinds) have become much closer as they partner up on EMT work, since Chimney (Kenneth Choi) is now the acting captain. Buck loves his 118 family, but the instability caused by Bobby's passing has made this new dynamic feel like "the straw that breaks the camel's back" for him.
However, Buck finds an unexpected source of solace in a conversation with his baby nephew, also named Bobby. Speaking to the infant, Buck is able to open up about his struggles in a way he couldn't with his closest friends. This vulnerable moment allows him to process his feelings without fear of judgment.
As the season progresses, the 118 will also have to contend with emergencies both on Earth and in space, as Athena (Angela Bassett) joins Hen on a mission. Viewers can look forward to some "really fun, silly episodes", including a Halloween special, as well as opportunities for Buck to showcase his leadership skills and commitment to helping others.
