The Season 5 premiere of Fire Country on the 2026 TV schedule introduces a significant change with the addition of Olivia Thirlby as CJ Ryan. This marks the first time since the show's debut that a new regular cast member has joined the ensemble in Edgewater.
Thirlby portrays a firefighter from Philadelphia who arrives in Edgewater for unspecified reasons. This expansion of the cast follows a period where, for the first three seasons, the core group remained consistent, with only minor shake-ups like Stephanie Arcila's Gabriela departing and Billy Burke's Vince passing away in Season 4.
Max Thieriot, co-creator and star, highlighted the monumental nature of CJ's introduction, noting that the character brings a different energy poised to disrupt the status quo. Thieriot emphasized that CJ's fresh perspective as an outsider will influence not only her but also the established characters around her.
Thieriot also indicated that CJ's personal "baggage and her own past" will be a focus, expressing confidence that audiences will connect with her. Early reactions suggest CJ is a confident and outspoken character, with potential for mutual learning between her and Bode. The show's audience can anticipate exploring CJ's mysterious background and her lasting impact on Edgewater.
