Summary
- Married filmmakers Joële Walinga and Daniel Warth launch CASA PIP, a free residency in Portugal
- CASA PIP offers filmmakers a peaceful space to work on projects, experiment, and rejuvenate
- Residency aims to treat filmmaking as an art form, encouraging artists to trust their instincts

In October 2025, married filmmakers Joële Walinga and Daniel Warth announced the launch of CASA PIP, a free residency program for filmmakers and film workers in the mountains of Central Portugal. The couple designed CASA PIP to provide a peaceful, rule-free space where artists can focus on their creative projects, experiment, and rejuvenate.
Inspired by the generosity of their friend, acclaimed animator Bruno Caetano, Walinga and Warth wanted to create a residency that treats filmmaking as a true art form. Unlike many film labs and residencies that offer guidance and external feedback, CASA PIP encourages artists to trust their instincts and explore their ideas without supervision or critique.
The residency is open to filmmakers across disciplines, from writers and directors to production designers and script supervisors. Walinga and Warth believe that every member of a film crew is an artist, and that providing them with dedicated time and space can significantly enrich the final work.
CASA PIP will welcome its first residents in 2026, selected by an international jury of industry experts. The couple is excited to open their doors and offer this unique opportunity to filmmakers, providing a sanctuary for artistic experimentation and rejuvenation.
