Film Title Frenzy: Over 150 'Operation Sindoor' Titles Stuck
22 Apr
Summary
- Over 150 film titles related to 'Operation Sindoor' are pending approval.
- Producers often register titles for publicity, not necessarily production.
- Only two films on 'Operation Sindoor' have been formally announced a year later.

Over 150 film titles related to 'Operation Sindoor,' along with several for the Pahalgam attack, remain pending registration with the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) nearly a year after the Army's press conference. IMPPA president Abhay Sinha stated that no titles have been approved due to the high volume of applications.
Industry insiders suggest producers frequently register titles for publicity rather than with concrete plans for production. This practice, often seen after major incidents, results in a significant number of registered titles, with only a fraction progressing to actual filmmaking.
Despite the title registration fervor, only two films concerning 'Operation Sindoor' have been formally announced. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri recently announced a film based on Lt Gen KJS 'Tiny' Dhillon's book, with T-Series. Another project, 'The Terror Report,' initially focused on the Pahalgam attack, is reportedly modifying its script to avoid clashes.
The issue of titling films after sensitive geopolitical events was highlighted with Salman Khan's 'Battle of Galwan,' which was renamed 'Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace.' Discussions have arisen about whether such titles should be registered at all, though the IMPPA intends to continue its allotment system.
