Filmmaker Rajiv Rai has initiated a copyright dispute concerning the upcoming film 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri,' starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday. Rai alleges that the film's production house, Dharma Productions, and music label Saregama used the distinctive opening beats of his 1992 hit song 'Saat Samundar' without his permission in the movie's initial teaser.
Rai clarified that while the latest teaser may not feature the exact beats, his concern extends to the broader issue of unauthorized reuse of his musical work. He emphasized that music labels can license songs for television or stage but cannot permit their inclusion in new films without the filmmaker's direct consent and proper compensation.
The filmmaker has warned that legal proceedings will be pursued if the established copyright protocol is disregarded. Rai expressed his reluctance to engage in costly legal battles but stated he would take the matter to court if necessary, either before or after the film's release on December 25. Neither Dharma Productions nor Saregama has issued an official statement yet.
