The WAVES Film Bazaar, a key component of the International Film Festival of India, has unveiled two new prestigious awards designed to nurture cinematic talent and promote sustainable filmmaking. The first, the UNESCO Creative City of Film Award, supported by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Vault/Costume Peti, aims to spotlight projects committed to filming at least 75% within Mumbai.
This award not only offers filmmakers access to filming locations and resources from Vault.rent/Costume Peti but also champions the BMC's Green Asset Management mandate by encouraging recycling and repurposing of production assets. This initiative underscores Mumbai's commitment to fostering a robust filmmaking ecosystem and driving cultural-led economic growth.
The second accolade, the Matchbox Gap Award, focuses on supporting filmmakers during the critical post-production phase. This award provides INR15-20 lakh in soft finance for post-production services, along with expert mentorship from Matchbox Shots LLP, to help eligible projects reach their full potential for global audiences.
