In October 2025, Kevin Federline, 47, is releasing a new memoir titled "You Thought You Knew" that delves into his high-profile divorce from pop star Britney Spears. The couple married in 2004 and divorced in 2006, with Federline revealing he received $20,000 per month in child support for their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, as well as another $20,000 per month in alimony for half the duration of their 26-month marriage.
Federline claims he signed a "pretty standard" prenup with Spears, 43, stating he "wasn't some bum just sitting around waiting for a check" before their marriage. However, he explains that the costs of raising their sons in Los Angeles, including rent, transportation, security, and childcare, meant the divorce settlement money "didn't stretch as far as you'd think."
In contrast, Spears' 2023 memoir "The Woman in Me" reveals that she "did everything [she] could to appease Kevin" to see her children as much as possible, even paying his legal bills, child support, and "thousands more a month so the kids could come along with [her] on the Circus tour." Spears says this was a sacrifice she was "willing to make" for her sons.
Spears has since accused Federline of "constantly gaslighting" her and "profiting off her pain" through the memoir. Federline has denied these claims, stating that his family, not money, is what matters most to him.
