Fatima Sana Shaikh has openly discussed her ongoing battle with epilepsy, a neurological disorder. During the filming of the 2016 movie 'Dangal,' Shaikh experienced seizures on set. She recounted how Aamir Khan, Sanya Malhotra, and their trainer Kripa Shankar Bishnoi were present and helped manage the situation when she had an aura followed by a seizure.
Following these episodes, the production team arranged for medical evaluations, including MRIs and EEGs. A neurologist prescribed medication, but Shaikh found the side effects overwhelming, reporting feelings of being under the influence, depression, and anger. She decided to stop the medication without informing anyone, which led to continued seizures.
Shaikh also recalled an earlier incident in a dance class where she experienced a seizure and passed out. She shared a doctor's initial, uninformed reaction suggesting attention-seeking behavior and possible drug use. These experiences highlight her four-year struggle with the condition before she began managing it differently.
