Summary
- Fashion critic Rachel Tashjian leaves Washington Post
- Tashjian hired as Senior Style Reporter at CNN
- CNN preparing "non-news digital product" focused on lifestyle

In a significant move within the media industry, fashion critic Rachel Tashjian has left her role at the Washington Post to join CNN as a Senior Style Reporter. Tashjian's hiring comes as CNN prepares to launch a "non-news digital product" that will focus on features and lifestyle content, rather than traditional news reporting.
Tashjian, a respected style expert, will be based in New York and will "provide multi-platform reporting and analysis of everyday appearance and high fashion alike, documenting the cultural shifts that influence the way we look," according to CNN. Prior to her roles at the Post and CNN, Tashjian held positions as the fashion news director at Harper's Bazaar and the first fashion critic at GQ.
The departure of Tashjian from the Washington Post is the latest in a series of editorial exits from the publication this year, following a revamp of the opinions section by owner Jeff Bezos. However, executive editor Matt Murray has insisted that Bezos is not interfering with the newsroom's operations.
