R&B Star D'Angelo Mourned at Emotional Memorial Service

On November 1, 2025, the music world bid a final farewell to R&B icon D'Angelo, who passed away earlier that month at the age of 51 after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. A "celebration of life" memorial service was held in Henrico, Virginia, where Bishop Ralland V. Robinson delivered a heartfelt eulogy and Pastor Jamal Bryant shared a special video message.

The memorial featured moving musical performances by legendary artist Stevie Wonder, acclaimed harpist Brandee Younger, and D'Angelo's former backing band The Soultronics. In a statement, D'Angelo's loved ones expressed their "profound gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of support" during this tragic time, adding that "through music, love and light, Michael D'Angelo's spirit will shine forever."

Questlove of The Roots was personally thanked by the family for his role in organizing the service. In a tribute published just days earlier, Questlove had admitted he had long been concerned for his friend's health, having braced himself for this devastating news for over 25 years. D'Angelo's three children, including his eldest son Michael, were also listed as speakers at the memorial, with his daughter Imani describing the loss as an "immeasurable" tragedy.
