- A wealthy driver's guilt leads to significant financial support for the victim.

A devastating traffic accident in suburban Taipei irrevocably alters the life of 22-year-old Yu-jie, leaving him wheelchair-bound. The incident, caused by the guilt-ridden elderly Mr. Ma, initiates an 11-year period of profound change for Yu-jie's entire family.
His parents, already facing marital difficulties exacerbated by the father's unemployment, grow further apart. Yu-jie's younger sister, Yu-ching, struggles with adolescent turmoil and feeling sidelined by the family's crisis.
Mr. Ma's remorse leads to generous financial support, including the transfer of his house and continuous aid for medical expenses. This support, however, also becomes a unique burden over time.
Director Lee Yun Chan's film, "To Be Ordinary," sensitively portrays the complex emotional and economic ripple effects of the accident on all family members. It offers an empathetic, character-driven narrative that avoids simplistic victimhood, highlighting the shared reckoning with sorrow.
