The Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Noël Coward's "Fallen Angels," featuring stars Rose Byrne and Kelli O'Hara, is set to reach global audiences through a limited cinematic engagement beginning October 22. Trafalgar Releasing, in partnership with BroadwayHD, will present a live capture of the acclaimed production.
The "champagne-fresh comedy of bad manners" originally premiered in 1925. The Roundabout Theatre Company's revival, directed by Scott Ellis, commenced previews on March 27 and officially opened on April 19, receiving five Tony Award nominations, including Best Play Revival and nominations for its lead actresses.
"Fallen Angels" is a tale of two upper-class wives whose husbands are away, leading them to reminisce about a shared past romantic entanglement. As their pre-marital dalliances resurface, the play explores old rivalries and scandals in a "delicious escape into frivolity," as described by O'Hara.
The cast also includes Tracee Chimo, Mark Consuelos, Christopher Fitzgerald, and Aasif Mandvi. This theatrical live capture follows similar successful releases, highlighting the growing trend of bringing stage productions to the big screen for wider accessibility.
