Fall Films: Spells, Sci-Fi, and Satire Hit Screens

This fall's cinema offerings are set to captivate audiences with a rich variety of genres. The highly anticipated sequel "Practical Magic 2" arrives September 11, revisiting the Owens sisters 25 years later with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. Tom Cruise stars in Alejandro G. Iñárritu's dark comedy "Digger," a satirical thriller releasing October 2, where he plays a billionaire facing global consequences.

Literary adaptations form a significant part of the season. "Verity," based on Colleen Hoover's bestseller, hits theaters October 2, with Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway. "Sense and Sensibility," a new take on Jane Austen's classic, is set for October 16, featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones. "Klara and the Sun," a sci-fi tale from Kazuo Ishiguro's novel, lands October 23, starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams.

The fall slate also includes a reinvention of the "Resident Evil" franchise on September 18, focusing on a medical courier's survival. Aaron Sorkin's whistleblower biopic "The Social Reckoning," about the Facebook Files leak, premieres October 9, with Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg and Mikey Madison as Frances Haugen. Andrew Garfield leads "The Uprising," a medieval drama based on true events, on September 11.

"Wicker," a dark comedic fable starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, is scheduled for October 23. The season concludes with "Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" on November 20, delving into events 24 years prior to the original films.
