Excel Origins: Backing India's Next Film Generation

Excel Entertainment, co-founded by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, is marking its 25th anniversary with the introduction of "Excel Origins." This new initiative is dedicated to discovering, developing, and backing aspiring Indian filmmakers under the age of 30. The program directly extends the company's founding principle, established 25 years ago with the film "Dil Chahta Hai," which emphasized new voices and distinct storytelling.

"Excel Origins" will actively scout for emerging directors and writers, offering them creative freedom to pursue original material. The company intends to foster a continuous supply of new talent in directing, writing, and acting, alongside developing fresh intellectual property. This strategic move positions Excel Entertainment to shape its future output by investing in unproven talent at a time when the industry often relies on established names and formulas.

This milestone follows Excel Entertainment's significant contributions to Indian cinema and streaming platforms. Their filmography includes acclaimed titles such as "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara," the "Don" and "Fukrey" franchises, "Raees," "Dil Dhadakne Do," and "Gully Boy." They also pioneered India's first original series for Prime Video, "Inside Edge," and produced other successful shows like "Mirzapur," "Made in Heaven," "Dahaad," and "Bambai Meri Jaan."
