Ex Machina Studios, a new Hollywood production company, has been launched by producer Marco Weber, filmmaker Martin Weisz, and Pluto TV co-founder Tom Ryan. The company's mission is to integrate ethical AI into filmmaking, ensuring the use of real actors, human-written stories, and guild-aligned practices. This approach aims to lower production costs for theatrically-oriented features while upholding creative standards.
Ex Machina Studios is committed to physically producing content in Los Angeles and has established a partnership with Utopai Studios for technology and co-production. Utopai's video generation model will power the first two projects: Cortés, a historical epic, and Space Nation, an eight-episode science fiction series.
Preview footage for both Cortés and Space Nation was presented to potential buyers at the American Film Market in 2025. The company emphasizes that technology should enhance, not replace, human artistry in cinema. This responsible model seeks to lower costs while expanding creative ambition in feature filmmaking.
