The ninth edition of European Work in Progress (EWIP) concluded in Hamburg on September 29, 2026, by honoring 10 film projects with awards valued at over €100,000. This event, a key part of the FilmFest Hamburg Industry Days, saw its winners selected from 25 projects that had applied. Over 270 applications were considered for this year's edition.
The selected projects represent films in their final production phases. The ceremony drew approximately 300 influential figures from the European film sector, including sales agents, distributors, and festival programmers. An international jury reviewed the submissions.
Among the awarded films was Suman Sen's 'Eka,' a co-production between India, Australia, and France, which received a €10,000 voucher for Dolby Atmos mixing. 'Folk Play' (Narodna Drama), directed by Mirjana Karanović, secured €30,000 in post-production services. Other accolades included awards for 'Karmic Knot' and 'Spross.'
EWIP noted that projects previously showcased have gone on to premiere at major festivals like Cannes, Venice, and Berlin. Recent examples, 'Elephants in the Fog' and 'I'll Be Gone in June,' both premiered in Cannes' Un Certain Regard section this year.
