After a 24-year hiatus, Everything But the Girl has announced the upcoming release of their new album, "Blue Reservoir," scheduled for February 19. The duo, comprising Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, will present 10 original tracks on their latest project.
The announcement coincides with the release of their new song and accompanying music video for "Young and Dumb." Directed by Edward Bishop, the video was filmed at London's Moth Club, a location that hosted the duo's recent residency and significantly influenced their new sound.
Tracey Thorn described the Moth Club shows as having an "intensity and simplicity" that reminded them of their early days, focusing on "direct, rooted in guitar and voice." Ben Watt primarily composed and performed "Blue Reservoir" using a Spanish nylon-string guitar, finding it an "emotional springboard" that helped him rediscover a lost musical voice.
"Blue Reservoir" includes collaborations with longtime associates Rex Horan on double bass and Evan Jenkins on drums, along with percussionist Fabio de Oliveira. The album's tracklist features titles such as "Forward," "Scala," and "Courage Mon Brave."
