25 Mar
Summary
- A spin-off starring Brad Garrett was planned after the show's 2005 conclusion.
- The network rejected the spin-off, citing the cast being over 40 years old.
- Phil Rosenthal's successful cooking series Somebody Feed Phil continues to air.

A planned spin-off of Everybody Loves Raymond, intended to star Brad Garrett as Robert Barone, was reportedly cancelled shortly after the original series concluded in 2005. Creator Phil Rosenthal shared that the network cited the cast's age, with most members being over 40, as the reason for rejecting the series beyond a pilot episode.
Rosenthal stated that the business landscape had shifted during the nine seasons of Everybody Loves Raymond. The proposed show would have also featured Monica Horan as Amy Barone, alongside her fictional family members played by Fred Willard, Georgia Engel, and Chris Elliott. This decision contrasts with the show's original success, which ran from 1997 to 2005.
While the spin-off never materialized, creator Phil Rosenthal has achieved significant success with his culinary travel show, Somebody Feed Phil, which has aired eight seasons on Netflix and is slated to move to YouTube in 2027. He has also opened a popular Los Angeles diner named Max & Helen's, which has drawn numerous celebrities and fans.
Earlier, Ray Romano, who starred as Ray Barone, had definitively dismissed the possibility of a full series reboot. He cited the absence of three key cast members, including Doris Roberts, Peter Boyle, and Sawyer Sweeten, as a primary reason why a revival would not be feasible or respectful to the show's legacy.
