The upcoming video game, "EverQuest Legends," is set to launch with the fan-favorite Kerran cat race as playable characters. This announcement was made at San Diego Comic-Con ahead of the game's July 28 release. The Kerran, a tribal cat race from Kerra Isle in the original game, are being reimagined in their original art style. Developers have updated their skins and animations to make them a fully playable race available from the start.
Developed by Game Jawn in collaboration with publisher Daybreak, "EverQuest Legends" is a community-driven reimagining of the 1999 MMO. The dev team highlighted that while Kerran were not playable in the original "EverQuest," they were in "EverQuest II." The decision to include them stems from both internal passion and significant player demand. The game aims to capture the magic of the 1999 original while modernizing it for today's players, including solo and casual gamers.
"EverQuest Legends" seeks to preserve the feel of the 1999 game by recreating original zones and characters in the classic art style, such as the Frogloks and Kerran. The team has focused on making the game more approachable with modern features, offering an opportunity for both new and returning players to enjoy the immersive experience. Group play for up to four players and raids for up to eight are also supported.
