The United Kingdom's Eurovision representative, Sam Battle, professionally known as Look Mum No Computer, is facing a demanding period balancing the competition with the recent birth of his son. Battle shared that he has been significantly sleep-deprived, noting his son was only seven days old at the time of the interview. He also detailed his extensive involvement in creating the stage presentation for his song "Eins, Zwei, Drei" in Vienna.
Battle, a popular YouTube personality recognized for his inventive electronic music equipment, constructed a substantial portion of the staging himself, including all the electronic components and visual panels. He mentioned that the BBC had some reservations about his welding skills, limiting certain aspects of the build. Notably, he completed the construction of the props just two hours before he and his wife departed for the hospital.
The 70th Eurovision final is scheduled to take place at Vienna's Wiener Stadthalle on Saturday, May 16. The semi-finals will precede this on May 12 and 14. All events will be broadcast live across BBC One, iPlayer, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Sounds. Battle expressed his determination to perform Eurovision "his own way" and embraced the daily surprises the experience brings.
