Sweeney, who rose to fame with her breakout performance in the HBO series Euphoria, has signed on to star in and executive produce a remake of the 1964 film That Man From Rio for Apple Original Films.
The remake will be directed by Justin Lin, best known for his work on the Fast & Furious franchise and Star Trek Beyond. The screenplay is being written by Chase Palmer, who co-wrote the 2017 hit film It. The original That Man From Rio was a witty action caper that received positive reviews and even earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay in 1965. It has also been noted that the film inspired the characterization of the iconic Indiana Jones character created by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.
