Este Haim, a member of the rock trio HAIM, has lent her voice to the character Hallow's Eve in the new Disney animated special, Marvel's Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team Up. This venture into voice acting represents the realization of a long-held aspiration, as Haim had written in her diary over ten years ago about her desire to portray a Marvel villain.
The festive special, which premiered in late September, features Hallow's Eve and Jack O'Lantern attempting to disrupt Halloween. Their actions prompt a team-up of Spiderman, Iron Man, Captain America, and Hulk to safeguard the holiday. Haim expressed excitement about working with Patrick Stump, whose band Fall Out Boy's frontman, Stump, composed the music for the series and voiced Jack O'Lantern.
Haim prepared for the role by drawing inspiration from iconic singing Disney villains such as Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Jafar from Aladdin, and Scar from The Lion King, alongside the witchy persona of Stevie Nicks. She noted that producers initially found her portrayal too sinister, humorously advising her to sound less evil to avoid frightening children.
The bassist also shared her personal connection to Halloween, embracing the 'all tricks, no treats' motto due to her diabetes, while still admitting a fondness for candies like Sour Punch Bites and peanut M&Ms. She confirmed that HAIM is continuously writing new music, utilizing voice notes for idea sharing as the sisters are now geographically dispersed.
