The Esports World Cup (EWC) has unveiled its 2027 EWC Qualifier Program, a significant expansion of the 'Road to EWC' initiative. This program is designed to enable tournament organizers and local esports communities globally to host official qualifying competitions.
The qualification pathway is set to reach an estimated 1.8 million players through over 400 events planned for 2027. It integrates publisher-led leagues, international tournaments, and regional qualifiers into a single, unified global championship structure.
Two partner-operated routes are available: EWC Direct Qualifiers, which extend existing connections with established esports tournaments, and EWC Satellite Last Chance Qualifiers. The latter focuses on grassroots participation, allowing local organizers, federations, and cyber cafes to apply for support to establish new or connect existing competitions.
Winners of these qualifiers will secure entry into EWC Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) tournaments next summer, competing for a spot in the main EWC event. The Esports Foundation will offer accommodation and visa support for winners. Initial games featured include Chess, Counter-Strike 2, FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, and Street Fighter 6.
