The late actor Eric Dane shared his deep appreciation for the HBO Max series Euphoria in a documentary filmed shortly before his passing in February 2026. He described his work on the show as "at times challenging, but the challenges were taken as opportunities," ultimately calling it the "most profound experience" of his career.
In "Euphoria: A Look Back," streaming now on HBO Max, Dane, who was diagnosed with ALS in April 2025, elaborated on his connection to the series. He noted that prior to Euphoria, he had a respect for acting but couldn't consider himself an artist until joining the show.
The third and final season of Euphoria paid a moving tribute to Dane and his co-star Angus Cloud, who died in July 2023. The season three premiere episode concluded with a black screen bearing "In Memoriam" for both actors.
Dane had previously expressed his love for the show, telling Variety in 2025 that he was amazed by the talent of his younger castmates. He portrayed the complex character Cal Jacobs, Nate Jacobs' father, in the gritty teen drama.
