Eric Dane Lands Firefighter Role on 'Brilliant Minds' Amid ALS Battle

In October 2025, it was announced that actor Eric Dane, 52, has booked a role as a firefighter with ALS on the medical drama 'Brilliant Minds.' Dane, who publicly revealed his own ALS diagnosis in April 2025, will appear in the ninth episode of the show's second season, portraying a "heroic firefighter who struggles to share his ALS diagnosis with his family."

Dane's new role on 'Brilliant Minds' is just one of his latest projects since going public with his ALS battle. The actor is also reprising his role as Cal on the hit series 'Euphoria,' in addition to playing Blythe on 'Countdown' and taking on a lead role in the upcoming series 'Kabul.' Despite the challenges of his health condition, Dane has remained determined to continue working.

In his initial statement about his ALS diagnosis, Dane expressed gratitude for the support of his "loving family" as he navigates this "next chapter." He also emphasized his desire to maintain his privacy during this time. Dane has since opened up about his experience, sharing that he first noticed symptoms of weakness in his right hand, which eventually progressed to the loss of function in his dominant right side. The actor has remained hopeful, however, crediting his neurologist, a leading ALS researcher, for providing him with optimism about slowing the disease's progression.
