Eric Dane, the actor celebrated for his roles as Dr. Mark Sloan on "Grey's Anatomy" and Jason Dean on "Charmed," has died at the age of 53. His family confirmed his passing on Thursday, February 20, 2026, after a prolonged and courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

Born and raised in San Francisco, Dane began his career in the early 1990s before achieving widespread recognition. He also starred as Captain Tom Chandler in the TNT series "The Last Ship" from 2014 to 2018. Dane publicly shared his ALS diagnosis in April 2025.

During his journey with the disease, Dane became a fervent advocate for increased awareness and research into ALS. He expressed a strong determination to make a difference for others facing similar challenges. He was surrounded by his devoted wife, his two daughters, Billie and Georgia, and close friends in his final days.
