Summary
- Guitar legend Eric Clapton was struck by an object in Madrid.
- The musician cut his May 7 concert short after the incident.
- Clapton joins other artists like Harry Styles and Bebe Rexha hit by fans.

Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton had his concert in Madrid cut short on May 7, marking his first performance in the city in 25 years. The 81-year-old musician was struck in the chest by what appeared to be a vinyl record thrown from the audience as he walked off stage after performing "Cocaine."
Although Clapton was unharmed, he did not return for his scheduled encore, "Before You Accuse Me." A message on his official fan website assured fans he was fine and urged attendees not to throw objects at the stage due to the risk of injury. His European tour continued in Barcelona three nights later without incident.
This event places Clapton among several artists, including Harry Styles and Bebe Rexha, who have experienced similar incidents. Styles was hit by a chicken nugget and a Skittle in separate events in 2022, while Bebe Rexha required stitches after a fan threw a cellphone at her in June 2023.
Clapton's tour will conclude its European leg in Munich on May 17 before heading to the U.S. in September. His tour culminates in Austin for the Crossroads Guitar Festival, an event he founded to support his drug treatment center in Antigua.
