Filmmaker and writer Eric Appel has signed with WME for representation across all professional endeavors. Appel's latest directorial project is the family comedy The Breadwinner, produced by TriStar and starring Nate Bargatze and Mandy Moore, which is scheduled for a May 29 release in theaters.
In 2022, Appel achieved significant recognition for co-writing, directing, and producing Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. The film, starring Daniel Radcliffe, premiered to critical acclaim at the Toronto Film Festival and subsequently garnered him two Critics Choice Awards, a PGA Award, and two Emmys. He also received WGA, DGA, and BAFTA TV nominations for this project.
Appel established himself early in digital-first comedy, directing numerous viral hits for Funny or Die, including "Undercover Karaoke" and "Lindsay Lohan's eHarmony Profile." Previously, he was selected to direct the pilot episode of the Lord & Miller series "Son of Zorn," a live-action/animation hybrid where he also served as series director and executive producer.
