- Ranbir Kapoor stars as Lord Rama; Yash plays Ravana.

The upcoming mythological film, "Ramayana," directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is poised to become the most expensive Indian production to date. With a combined budget reported at ₹4000 crore or $500 million for its two parts, it ranks among the world's most costly films. Ranbir Kapoor takes on the role of Lord Rama, alongside Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash portraying Ravana. Other key cast members include Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.
The film's teaser, released in April, offered a glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor's Lord Rama and Yash's Ravana. While the visual effects faced some criticism, the production aims to capture the epic scale of global IPs like "Lord of the Rings" and "Avatar," as stated by producer Namit Malhotra. He noted that "Ramayana" predates many of these international epics.
"Ramayana" is slated for a grand theatrical release, with the first part scheduled to arrive on Diwali 2026. The concluding part is slated for release on Diwali 2027, promising audiences an immersive journey into the ancient epic.
