On October 28, 2025, the city of Mumbai, known for its vibrant nightlife, experienced a moment of collective nostalgia as Enrique Iglesias, the renowned pop star, returned to the city after a 13-year absence. The sold-out concert, produced by EVA Live, marked Iglesias's first performance in Mumbai in a decade and the first of a historic two-day show expected to draw over 55,000 fans.
The MMRDA Grounds transformed into a 25,000-strong choir, nightclub, and nostalgia capsule as Iglesias took the stage. Dressed in an all-black casual look with his signature cap, the singer opened with "Sube La Radio," instantly locking the audience into rhythm-mode. What followed was a 90-minute, 19-track journey across eras, from the dancefloor-smashers to the radio staples and the late-night heartbreak specials.
Iglesias ensured everyone had a ball, moving easily between solemn sing-alongs like "Hero" and "Heartbeat" and party-starters such as "Bailamos," "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)," and "Takin' Back My Love." The pacing never felt lopsided, a testament to Iglesias's ability to read the crowd and keep them engaged throughout the performance.
The audience, spanning generations from Gen-Z to 40-somethings, was perhaps the most telling marker of Iglesias's staying power. Fans had flown in from cities across India, including Bengaluru, Goa, Delhi NCR, and Chandigarh, to witness the iconic artist's return to Mumbai.
The production value was equally impressive, with a dual-stage layout for better fan access, synchronized lighting, pyro bursts, and a stadium-wide cascade of white EI-branded balloons as "I Like It" closed the night amid fireworks. It was a theatrical experience without being overwhelming.
If the 13-year gap had raised questions about whether the connect would still hold, the answer was loud enough to echo beyond BKC. Iglesias has undoubtedly reminded Mumbai why his songs became hits in the first place, and fans eagerly await the second day of the historic two-day show.
