Empathy Series Captures Global Audiences

Florence Longpré's acclaimed series, Empathy, has secured new distribution deals across Europe and is now available in Australia. This original production for Canadian streamer Crave and France's Canal+ has already received the green light for a second season. The series stars Longpré as Suzanne, a psychiatrist-criminologist who takes on challenging cases at a secure psychiatric facility.

Suzanne employs unconventional methods to treat patients while confronting her own trauma, forming a unique bond with security officer Mortimer. The series, directed by Guillaume Lonergan, has recently premiered on SBS in Australia and Movistar Plus+ in Spain. Further sales have been made to Nos Lusomundo Audiovisuais in Portugal and Greek streamer Cinobo.

Beta Film is managing distribution for the Trio Orange-produced series, with negotiations for Asian and Latin American markets reportedly underway. Empathy has proven to be a major success, being one of Crave's most-watched local originals and achieving 10 million views on Canal+ in France within two months.

Recognized for its quality, Empathy has been a festival darling. It premiered at Series Mania, where it was the first drama from Quebec to compete, ultimately winning the Audience Award after a lengthy standing ovation. The series also received multiple awards at Serielizados Fest, Best Series at the Venice TV Awards, and nominations at the Rose D'Or Awards. It is currently nominated for a BANFF Rockie Award in 2026.
