In a move that's sure to add some extra star power to this year's Best in Drag show, Emmy-winning actress Katherine LaNasa has been announced as one of the judges for the annual Los Angeles-based amateur drag queen competition. The event, which has been running for over 30 years, raises funds for APLA Health's Alliance for Housing & Healing.
LaNasa, who recently won an Emmy for her role as nurse Dana Evans on the hit HBO Max medical drama "The Pitt," will be joined on the judging panel by a host of other notable names, including "Melrose Place" star and LaNasa's husband, Grant Show, as well as Judy Greer, Kathy Kinney, and Variety's Marc Malkin.
The Best in Drag show is set to take place on October 5th at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. In addition to the judging panel, the event will also feature a performance by "RuPaul's Drag Race" star and former BID contestant, Salina EsTitties.
"We are beyond excited to bring back Best in Drag, a celebration of creativity and boldness," said APLA Health CEO Craig E. Thompson in a statement. "This event is an expression of our commitment to the health, dignity, and well-being of our community. At a time when our community is under attack, the funds raised are critical to providing vital housing and support services to those most impacted by HIV."
