The series, which is based on the novel of the same name by S.A. Cosby, follows Titus Crown (played by Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù), the first Black sheriff in a small Bible Belt county.
Haunted by the untimely death of his devout mother, Crown must lead the hunt for a serial killer who has been preying on his Black community for years, all in the name of God. Bartlett will portray Scott Cunningham, the chairman of the town's board of supervisors, in this gripping adaptation.
The ensemble cast also includes acclaimed actors John Douglas Thompson, Nicole Beharie, Daniel Ezra and Andrea Cortes. The series is written, showrun and executive produced by Joe Robert Cole, who will also direct the first and other episodes. Bartlett is best known for his breakout role in the first season of 'The White Lotus', for which he won an Emmy. He followed that up with another Emmy-nominated guest role in the first season of 'The Last Of Us'. Viewers can next see him in the upcoming A24 film 'The Death of Robin Hood'.
