Elton John's husband, David Furnish, has provided an update on the singer's health, stating that Elton is 'battling on' despite a severe eye infection contracted in July 2024. This condition has resulted in blindness in his right eye and limited vision in his left, significantly impacting his ability to see, watch, or read for over a year.

Furnish shared with Variety that the 78-year-old hitmaker is currently doing well and prioritizing family time at home with their sons, Zachary, 15, and Elijah, 13. This decision to step off the road stems from their deep love for parenting and family togetherness.

Elton himself described the past year as 'challenging' due to his vision loss. He revealed in September 2024, via Instagram, that he had been recuperating at home and expressed gratitude to his medical team and family for their care. He remains hopeful that future scientific advancements will aid his recovery.

Speaking at the premiere of his documentary 'Elton John: Never Too Late' in October 2024, Elton reflected on his various health issues, humorously noting the extensive surgeries he has undergone, leaving him with only his left hip remaining.
