A live-action adaptation of the popular Eloise children's book series is in development with Netflix distributing. The film boasts a notable cast, including Ryan Reynolds, who will portray a newly created villain, and newcomer Mae Schenk as the titular character.
Additional stars joining the project are Sally Hawkins, David Haig, Victor Garber, and Max Casella. Amy Sherman-Palladino is directing, with a script co-written by Sherman-Palladino, Hannah Marks, and Linda Woolverton. Reynolds is producing through his Maximum Effort banner.
MRC acquired the rights to Eloise in 2019 and is overseeing the production, collaborating with the Thompson estate, illustrator Hilary Knight, and publisher Simon & Schuster. Principal photography is slated to begin this November.
