Ellen Barkin is celebrating her role in "Another Happy Day," a dark comedy written and directed by 26-year-old Sam Levinson. Barkin, a veteran actress, described the project as "the most important thing I've ever accomplished, career-wise," adding she had waited 30 years for such a part.
The film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, features Barkin as a stressed mother interacting with her eccentric family. The ensemble cast includes notable actors like Ellen Burstyn, Thomas Haden Church, Demi Moore, and Ezra Miller.
Barkin and Levinson, who are now dating, met when she starred in an independent film where he provided emergency rewrites. Impressed by his talent, Barkin agreed to take on a role in "Another Happy Day" and also served as a producer.
Phase 4 Films acquired the movie in May. "Another Happy Day" is scheduled for release in New York and Los Angeles on November 18. Barkin lauded Levinson's distinctive writing voice, calling him a significant new talent in American filmmaking.
