Daniel Davis, the actor who portrayed Niles the butler on "The Nanny," recently shared anecdotes about Elizabeth Taylor's guest appearance on the show. Taylor's entourage reportedly made several extravagant demands, including having her dressing room painted lavender and stocking it with lavender-colored towels and washcloths.
Further stipulations in Taylor's contract included a requirement that cast members avoid looking directly into her eyes. Additionally, a gift from Tiffany's, valued at no less than $5,000, was to be placed on her dressing table, though Davis noted Taylor never saw the present.
Taylor's appearance in February 1996 was part of a unique promotional campaign by CBS called "Taylor-Made Monday." She appeared sequentially across four of the network's sitcoms to promote her fragrance, Black Pearls, in a storyline involving lost and found pearls.
