11 Sep
Summary
- Elijah Wood received a key to Novato, California, delayed by over 30 years.
- The key was prepared in the early 1990s but never presented to the young actor.
- A city staff member's son delivered the forgotten key at a fan event.
More than thirty years after filming "Radio Flyer" in Novato, California, actor Elijah Wood has been presented with a long-forgotten Key to the City. The honorary key, created for him as a child during the early 1990s, was never formally given and remained at Novato City Hall for over three decades.
The unique situation was resolved recently when a city staff member's son, Malcolm, met Wood at Fan Expo in San Francisco. Malcolm was able to present the decades-old key to the surprised and touched actor.
The city shared the story, noting its resemblance to Wood's famous role in "The Lord of the Rings." This event also coincides with discussions about Wood potentially reprising his role as Frodo Baggins in an upcoming film. The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is anticipated for late 2027.
