El Gouna Fest Unveils 10 Global Gems

The ninth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival, set to take place from October 15-23 in Egypt's El Gouna resort town, has unveiled its first 10 selected films. This curated selection represents a diverse range of cinematic voices, including established directors and first-time feature filmmakers, with many films previously screened at international festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Sundance, and Karlovy Vary.
The announced titles span various genres and narratives. Highlights include Pawel Pawlikowski's "Fatherland" and Hamaguchi Ryusuke's "All of a Sudden," both recognized at Cannes. Other notable films include Poh Si Teng's "American Doctor," which premiered at Sundance, Joaquín del Paso's "The Garden We Dreamed" from Berlinale, and Mads Mengel's "The Guest," a Karlovy Vary award winner.
Further selections include Myrsini Aristidou's "Hold Onto Me," which garnered an award at Sundance, Lance Hammer's "Queen at Sea" featuring Juliette Binoche and awarded at Berlinale, Markus Schleinzer's "Rose," Austria's international feature submission, and documentaries "Who Killed Alex Odeh?" and İlker Çatak's Golden Bear winner "Yellow Letters."
Artistic director Andrew Mohsen stated that these films share common threads of family, identity, and courage, embodying the festival's mission to connect global stories and audiences.
