DC-based punk band Ekko Astral is set to release their second full-length album, "The Beltway Is Burning," on April 22. Recorded immediately following the 2024 U.S. election, the band has characterized the LP as a "real-time historical document in the form of a dark comedy."
The new album's lead single, "Lil Xan Goes to Washington," offers a satirical narrative. The track's music video, directed by Alec Puglies, visually depicts the titular character's journey.
"The Beltway Is Burning" presents a fictionalized version of the I-495 area, where President Adam Sandler holds godlike power and the DMV is a demilitarized zone. This 12-track album follows their 2024 debut, "Pink Balloons," and includes guest appearances from Pop Music Fever Dream and Big Girl, as well as the previously released single "Horseglue."
