Michael Eisner, the former CEO of Disney, has revealed that dealing with disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein was one of the most difficult periods of his career.
Eisner described Weinstein as someone who "lied about everything" and called him "just a pig." He recalled Weinstein as rude but an "intellectual" who acted like a "truck driver."
Despite their challenging interactions, Eisner expressed pride in purchasing Weinstein's Miramax production company in 1993 for $70 million. He acknowledged Weinstein's talent for identifying successful independent films, including Oscar winners like "Shakespeare in Love."
Eisner admitted to regretting passing on the opportunity to produce "The Lord of the Rings" franchise due to its astronomical budget. He reflected that he would not have entered the initial deal if he had foreseen the potential issues.
Harvey Weinstein is currently serving a prison sentence in New York City, having been convicted of rape and sexual assault.
