In one of his most powerful roles to date, acclaimed Egyptian actor Ahmed Malek is set to star in the new father-son drama 'My Father's Scent'. The film, which is the first fiction feature from director Siam, will have its world premiere at the Warsaw International Film Festival this weekend, followed by its MENA premiere at Egypt's El Gouna Film Festival.
Malek co-stars alongside Kamel El Basha, who won the best actor award at the Venice Film Festival in 2017 for his performance in 'The Insult'. The two actors play an estranged father and son who are forced to confront their past grievances and attempt to mend their broken relationship over the course of one long night.
The film brings together a talented team of rising Arab production talent, including cinematographer Omar Abou Doma, composer Layal Watfeh, and editor Ahmed Hafez, who has worked on projects like 'Moon Knight' and 'Clash'. 'My Father's Scent' is produced by leading Egyptian indie producer Mohamed Hefzy and Siam through his company ArtKhana, with several international co-producers also on board.
