13 Feb
Summary
- The Morecambe attraction will now feature two shell-shaped domes.
- Revised plans address concerns about cost and local landmark impact.
- The Eden Project Morecambe is now scheduled to open in 2028.

A revised plan for the Eden Project Morecambe, a £100 million attraction in Lancaster, has been submitted to the local council. Originally approved with four domes in 2022, the updated proposal features only two, named Realm of the Sun and Realm of the Moon. These changes were made after concerns were raised by residents and councilors about the potential impact on nearby landmarks and rising costs.
Realm of the Sun is envisioned as a vibrant, adaptable space with tropical flora, a waterfall, and a sculpture, while Realm of the Moon will be a darker, rock-pool-themed area. Both will be connected by an entrance area called Metronome. The project will also include extensive outdoor areas with coastal plants and a new community space named Bring Me Sunshine.
Additionally, the revised plans incorporate a 750-capacity Tidal Theatre and a sea defense system with raised walkways to mitigate flood risks. The attraction, situated on the former Bubbles Leisure complex site, is now anticipated to open in 2028, with summer events planned. The Eden Project also has plans for another site in Dundee.
