Ed O'Brien, known for his work with Radiohead, is set to release his debut solo album, "Blue Morpho," on May 22. This new record, produced by Paul Epworth, marks his first release on Transgressive and follows his 2020 solo debut, "Earth."
O'Brien has shared that "Blue Morpho" was conceived during one of the most trying times in his life, a deep depression he experienced in late 2020. He credits the restorative power of playing guitar for extended periods and embracing the methods of Wim Hof, a proponent of cold exposure therapy, for helping him navigate this difficult phase.
The album will be accompanied by a short film titled "Blue Morpho: The Three Act Play." While O'Brien is still exploring ways to bring the album to a live audience, he also hinted at future Radiohead tour plans, suggesting an annual commitment to performing on different continents.
