Dying Light: Beast PS4/Xbox One Release Cancelled
14 Jul
Summary
- Dying Light: The Beast cancelled for PS4 and Xbox One.
- Game built for current-gen hardware, cannot run on older consoles.
- Refunds offered to players expecting last-gen versions.

Techland has officially cancelled the planned PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Dying Light: The Beast. This decision comes after the game's initial launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in September of last year.
The studio explained that the game's development was fundamentally tied to the capabilities of current-generation hardware, including its open world design, advanced visuals, and combat mechanics. Techland stated that these features rely on processing power and memory that older consoles cannot provide.
Bringing Dying Light: The Beast to PS4 and Xbox One would have necessitated compromises that would detract from the intended player experience. Techland emphasized that this was a technical necessity, not a choice to abandon those platforms, and apologized for any disappointment caused. Players who purchased or intended to purchase the game on these last-gen consoles will be offered full refunds.
