Two years ago, in 2023, Rylee Arnold and Hailey Bills made their debut as professional dancers on the main Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) series. However, their journey to the primetime stage began much earlier, as they were both junior pros on the younger iteration of the ballroom competition back in 2018.
The junior version of DWTS aired that year, featuring a cast of child stars and celebrity kids competing for the coveted star-shaped mirrorball trophy. Alongside Rylee and Hailey, the junior lineup included the likes of Ariana Greenblatt, Miles Brown, Mackenzie Ziegler, and Olympian Sky Brown, all of whom were mentored by DWTS professionals.
In the years since their junior debut, these young dancers have continued to make their mark on the industry. Rylee, who was just 13 at the time, has gone on to become a three-season pro on the main DWTS series, while Hailey, the niece of pro Jenna Johnson, joined the show's troupe in 2025. Other junior alums, such as Brightyn Brems and Artyon Celestine, have found success in various realms, from modeling and choreography to acting and singing.
As the DWTS Juniors class of 2018 proves, the future of dance is in good hands. These talented individuals have not only honed their skills on the junior stage but have also gone on to conquer the primetime spotlight, showcasing the enduring impact of the DWTS franchise.
