Dwayne Johnson Honored as Disney Legend

Dwayne Johnson was celebrated as a Disney Legend at the D23 event on Sunday, recognizing his significant contributions to the Walt Disney Company. His involvement spans iconic projects like "Jungle Cruise," the "Moana" franchise, and "Race to Witch Mountain."

During his acceptance speech, Johnson shared a profoundly emotional anecdote about his first trip to Disneyland with his eldest daughter, Simone, when she was five years old. He recalled a moment where a princess encouraged her to make a wish, deeply affecting him with the pure joy on her face and highlighting the enduring beauty of Disney experiences.

Johnson also acknowledged his younger daughters, Jasmine and Tiana, who were watching from home. His "Jungle Cruise" and "The Smashing Machine" co-star, Emily Blunt, made a surprise appearance. Blunt praised Johnson, describing him as wise, gentle, and unpretentious, contrasting his on-screen persona with his true character.

This recognition comes as Johnson continues his work with Disney, including reprising his role as Maui in the live-action "Moana." His production company, Seven Bucks Productions, also has a first-look deal with Disney to develop new films. The Disney Legends Awards program has honored 329 individuals since its inception in 1987.
