Duffy Returns: Secret London Gig Marks Tentative Comeback

Duffy, the acclaimed Welsh singer, is preparing for her first stage performance in over 15 years. She announced via Instagram on Friday, June 6, that a secret intimate gig will take place in London on July 5. This event signifies her tentative return to public life and the music industry.

During the London show, Duffy plans to debut new music, treating a select few attendees to her latest work. The performance is exclusively ballot-only, requiring fans to apply through her social media channels due to its small capacity. This marks a significant step in her gradual reemergence.

Last month, Duffy shared her anticipation for returning, posting from a recording studio about her efforts to "come back" to her fans. Earlier this year, it was revealed that a Hulu Original documentary for Disney+ will feature Duffy sharing her full story for the first time. The documentary will cover her Welsh upbringing, early 2000s success, decade-long retreat, and the traumatic assault that led to it.

Duffy, born Aimée Anne Duffy in Bangor, Wales, achieved global fame in 2008 with her debut album "Rockferry." The album became the UK's best-selling of that year and earned her multiple awards, including three BRIT Awards and a Grammy. Her hit single "Mercy" topped charts in both the UK and the US.

Following her second album "Endlessly" in 2010, Duffy stepped away from the spotlight. She has since released only two new songs: "River in the Sky" in 2020 and the radio-only single "Something Beautiful." Her prolonged absence was explained in 2020, when she revealed she had been drugged, abducted, and raped while celebrating her birthday, an ordeal that left her suicidal. No arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the case.
