Singer Duffy Breaks Silence on Kidnapping and Rape Trauma

Singer Duffy, once a global music sensation, is set to make a public return with a documentary on Disney+. The film promises an in-depth look at her life, from her Welsh roots to her sudden withdrawal from the spotlight in 2011.

The documentary will explore the harrowing events that led to her disappearance. In 2010, on her 26th birthday, Duffy was drugged and held captive for four weeks. She was subsequently taken to a foreign country and raped before managing to escape.

She first disclosed this traumatic experience in February 2020, detailing its profound impact and the reason for her nine-year hiatus. Despite facing disbelief and online trolling, Duffy has now signed with manager Ben Mawson and a lucrative Disney deal, signalling a significant comeback.

This return comes after a period of significant personal change, including the recent death of her mother. Duffy, who legally changed her name to Duffy Jones in 2013, previously expressed doubts about ever being the person the public once knew.
